Iraq – January 11th, 2013

Dust blows down the valley around the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, in Iraq, and towards the Persian Gulf. Some dust spreads over the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab, formed by the convergence of the aforementioned riers, and over the gulf. The bulk of the dust does not appear to be engulfing Baghdad, which is visible as a grey area southeast of the teardrop-shaped Lake Tharthar near the left edge, although it can be seen just north of the city.
