Dust Blowing by United Kingdom, Ireland and France – April 17th, 2011

April 17th, 2011 Category: Dust Storms, Image of the day, Phytoplankton

United Kingdom, Ireland, France - April 8th, 2011

A thick plume of dust blows northwestward, off the coast of France (below), and the United Kingdom and Ireland (above). The dust probably originated from the African continent.

Also of note are phytoplankton blooms off the coast of France, visible at the bottom of the full image, and sediments in the English Channel.
