Sediments frame the shores of James Bay, the southern part of the Hudson Bay, in Canada. They are particularly concentrated between the half-moon-shaped Akimiski Island and the bay’s western shoreline, in the province of Ontario.

Visible in the Hudson Bay in the upper right quadrant is the archipelago of the Belcher Islands. The islands have unusual, bent, elongated shapes. Both the Belcher Islands and Akimiski Island are part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the province of Nunavut.
