Bahía Blanca and San Matías Gulf, Argentina – January 15th, 2009
Two bodies of water along the coast of Argentina can be seen in this image: Bahía Blanca in the Province of Buenos Aires (above), and San Matías Gulf (Golfo de San Matías), in the province of Río Negro (below).
Between the two are two rivers: Río Colorado (above) and Río Negro (below).
Bahía Blanca means “White Bay”, although it is actually an estuary. The name is due to the typical colour of the salt covering the soils surrounding the shores.
In the image we can see sediments in Bahía Blanca, while the waters of San Matías Gulf are very clear.
