Wildfires in Russia Release Smoke Towards Ob and Irtysh Rivers – May 21st, 201161.7N 63.5E
Wildfires in Russia release smoke that blows in a northeasterly direction, towards the confluence of the Irtysh and Ob Rivers. Eosnap had previously observed fires in the same area in early May (click here for previous article).
As of three days prior to when this image was taken, 205 fires were affecting 3718 ha forested and 1391 ha non-forested lands. Since the beginning of the 2011 fire season a total of 6842 fires have affected 125351 ha forested and 65329 ha non-forested lands of Russia.
