10.9S 17.1E

June 9th, 2012 Category: Dust Storms, Fires, Salt Flats

Angola and Namibia - June 7th, 2012

Multiple fires can be seen burning across Angola. Their points of origin appear as small white dots, while the smoke plumes billowing forth from them blow in a counter-clockwise curve towards the west. Upon opening the full image, the Etosha Pan can be seen across the border, in the Kalahari Basin, in northern Namibia. Strong winds are blowing salt and dust off the pan and towards the west.
