Wildfire in Volga Delta by Caspian Sea

Caspian Sea - May 6th, 2012

Smoke from a wildfire can be seen near the center of the Volga Delta, by the shores of the Caspian Sea. The plume of smoke from the fire was blowing in a straight line towards the northwest at the time this image was captured. Visible to the east are sediments and algal growth coloring the northern section of the Caspian Sea bright shades of green and blue.
