Smoky Haze from Russian Fires Shrouds Lake Balkhash, Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Lake Balkhash is shrouded in smoke, almost completely obscuring its western end. According to reports, the haze is also affecting the country’s capital, Astana, as well as the Kokshetau and Akmola regions. The smoke is caused by forest fires in Russia that has blown over its neighboring countries.
