Smoke Over India and Pakistan - November 5th, 2010

A cloud of smoke can be seen over India on the left side of this image, south of the Himalayas. Although thickest over India, the cloud extends westward over Pakistan, to the Indus River Valley.

Visible near the bottom of the image, near the rivermouth, is the Great Rann of Kutch, a seasonal salt marsh. Large areas of it are green in color, surrounded by white salt flats. The Rann is located in the Thar Desert on the border of Pakistan and India.
