Smoke South of Himalayas and West of Brahmaputra River, India26.7N 87.0E
Smoke hovers in the air of northeast India, south of the Himalayas and west of the Brahmaputra River. Although it reaches up into the crevices of the lower side of the mountains in Nepal, it cannot pass over their tall peaks and into Tibet.
In the uppper half of the image, part of the Tibetan Lakes Region is visible. Although some snow rests atop the mountains, most of the plateau is clear. A few of the lakes, however, appear frozen (see full image).
