Plumes of smoke from several fire can be observed in this image of the province of Alberta, Canada. Originating near the center left edge is a plume of smoke from a wildfire blowing due east-northeast. The smoke in the upper part of the image is from a large fire to the east (more of which is visible in the full image).
The Canadian Press has reported that a blaze near Zama City has forced people to flee their homes. Between 150 and 200 permanent residents and transient workers had to be moved earlier this week from Zama City, which is about 930 kilometres north of Edmonton. The fire has already burned through about 1,000 square kilometres of timber and bush.
