Smoke from Indian Fires Spreads into Pakistan

India and Pakistan – November 10th, 2012

As the Indian state of Punjab entered its November growing season, farmers lit fires to fields to clear them for planting. As the fires released thick smoke into the air, it spread to neighboring countries, including Pakistan (left). Other factors such as urban and industrial smog may also be constributing to the smoke.
