Smoke from Fires in Bolivia Clears Slightly, Blows to Southeast

Smoke from Fires in Bolivia - September 26th, 2010

The smoke from fires in Bolivia has cleared slightly in this image of South America taken in late September. The Amazon Rainforest, and several tan, sediment-laden rivers running through it, can be seenly with virtually no haze for the first time in weeks.

This may, however, be related to a change in wind direction, as many individual blazes can be observed in the full image, and they are releasing plumes of smoke towards the southeast, where a cloud of smoke is visible.
