Smoke from Fires in Bolivia - October 14th, 2010

The smoke from fires in Bolivia that has been creating a thick haze in the skies over several South American countries appears to have cleared substantially, at least over Peru. In an image taken two days before, however, the air over Bolivia and parts of Peru, Paraguay and Brazil was clogged with smoke.

Smoke from fires has been affecting Bolivia and its neighboring countries since August, when the Bolivian government declared a state of emergency due to its lack of resources for combatting the blazes.
