Smoke from Fires in Bolivia - September 12th, 2010

Fires burning in Bolivia continue to dispel smoke over nearby countries in South America. Here, the smoke can be seen spreading over Peru and Ecuador.

Bolivia’s fire emergency developed because of agricultural fires that began to burn out of control due to extreme drought. The dryness has been so extreme that even the country’s rainforests are vulnerable.
