Smoke from Fire Near Georgia-Florida Border Trails Over Atlantic

30.9N 82.8W

August 30th, 2011 Category: Fires

USA - August 29th, 2011

A fire near the border of Georgia and Florida, in southern USA, releases as plume of smoke towards the north-northeast. The smoke blows north-northeastward, then curves to the east, trailing out over the Atlantic Ocean parallel to the shoreline.

In the full image, sediments can be seen along the coastline as one moves further northward. These may be due in part to heavy rains caused by the passing of Hurricane Irene (09L).
