India and Pakistan – December 1st, 2012

Smoke from fires in northern India spreads eastwards towards Pakistan and the Gulf of Khambhat, an inlet of the Arabian Sea along the west coast of India, in the state of Gujarat. Here, sediments from the Narmada and Tapti Rivers can be seen pouring into the gulf, which is shallow and known for its extreme tides, which vary greatly in height and run into it with amazing speed.
