Sediments in Lakes Turkana and Abaya; Fire in Uganda6.3N 37.8E
Visible near the center of this image is Lake Turkana, in the Kenyan Rift Valley, with its far northern end crossing into Ethiopia. Visible west of the lake, near the left edge of the image, is a plume of smoke from a fire just across the Ugandan border, blowing due westward.
Visible northeast of Lake Turkana is Lake Abaya, in Ethiopia, in the Main Ethiopian Rift, east of the Guge Mountains. The lake is brown in color due to a high load of suspended sediments. Upon opening the full image, Lake Tana, also in Ethiopia, can be seen near the top edge.
