Australia – June 26th, 2012

Plumes of smoke from two large bushfires south of Lake Argyle (top center), near the border between Australia’s Northern Territory (right half of image) and Western Australia (left half of image) blow to the West. The plume of smoke from the fire to the South fans out over a greater area. Such fires are common in this part of Australia during the southern hemisphere winter, and this season they have been further spurred by dry conditions in the preceding months.
