Fires Near Oporto, Portugal
Several wildfires are burning near the city of Oporto, in northwestern Portugal. The city itself can be identified as a large tan area on the coast, through which the Douro River flows.
The fires can be seen east-northeast of the city, with smoke blowing west-northwestward. Portugal is typically affected by wildfires during the dry, summer months. The greatest number of blazes tend to start in the northern parts of the country; however, the total burned area is usually the smallest, report the Portuguese Forest Services.
