Fires in Volga Delta and Sediments in Caspian Sea46.1N 49.1E
The northern end of the Caspian Sea is colored green and tan from the influx of sediments. Sediments along the northeastern shores are tan in color and become milky blue as they diffuse, while those along the northwestern shores, coming from the Volga River, are dark green. Visible near the coast in the Volga Delta area are plumes of dark grey smoke from wildfires. The smoke was blowing in a southerly direction at the time this image was captured.
