The Florida peninsula, USA, is a porous plateau of karst limestone sitting atop bedrock. Almost the entire state of Florida can be seen upon opening the full image.

The central and southern regions have many lakes, the largest of which is Lake Okeechobee.

The green, circular area southeast of the lake is a wildlife park known as Monkey Jungle.

In the first close-up, several fires are burning in the agricultural area between the park and Lake Okeechobee.

On the west coast of the peninsula two large inlets, Charlotte Harbor (below) and Tampa Bay (above) are visible.

In the second close-up, four bridges over Tampa Bay appear as long lines curving over the water. These are, from North to South, the Courtney Campbell Causeway, the Howard Frankland Bridge, the Gandy Bridge and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
