Smoke from Fires in Croatia Spreads Across Eastern Europe – August 28th, 2012
43.8N 15.9EAs Croatia experiences one its hottest summers in history fires have been spreading along the popular southern coast where thousands of tourists are on holiday. Hundreds of firefighters from all over the Balkan state arrived to defend houses around the southern coastal village of Skradin, which caught fire on Monday. The blaze spread for kilometres within half an hour. Here, smoke from the fires can be seen blowing southward over Greece, eastward across Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, and northeastward over Hungary.
