Smoke from Fires in Bolivia and Brazil - September 21st, 2010

Smoke from fires in Brazil contributes to the smoky haze hanging over large areas of South America, caused principally by fires in Bolivia that have been burning over the dry winter.

In the full image, individual plumes of smoke can be seen in Brazil, blowing in a curved shape first to the southwest then to the southeast. The large, thick cloud of smoke from Bolivia crosses the full image, also blowing in a curve towards the southeast.
