Fires in Bolivia Release Cloud of Smoke

18.8S 62.8W

October 14th, 2011 Category: Fires

South America - October 7th, 2011

Fires in Bolivia at the foot of the Andes Mountains (center left edge) release plumes of smoke towards the southeast.

This smoke can be seen spreading southward into Paraguay and Argentina, as well, although the tall peaks of the Andes prevent it from blowing westward.

Two other large fires can be observed near the lower right corner, by the Argentina-Paraguay border. The plumes of smoke from these blazes are blowing due southward.
