Fires Between Lake Chad and Air Mountains – January 19th, 201115.0N 11.6E
Plumes of smoke from many wildfires in Niger, Chad and Nigeria blow towards the northwest. The individual plumes can be observed in greater detail by opening the full image.
Partially obscured by the smoke wafting in the air is Lake Chad, on the edge of the Sahara Desert, near the right edge of the image. The Air Mountains, to the north by the upper edge, on the other hand, can be observed quite clearly as the smoke does not reach over them.
