Fires and Sediments in Northern Australia

15.8S 126.4E

May 20th, 2012 Category: Fires, Sediments

Australia - May 20th, 2012

Smoke from fires in the northern part of Australia’s Northern Territory, near the border with Western Australia, release plumes of smoke towards the northwest (click here for previous images). Most of the blazes can be observed near the right edge of the image. To the north, sediments give the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf an opaque tan color, while those in King Sound, further west down the coast, have a more yellow hue.
