Australia – August 16th, 2012

Smoke from a fire in Australia’s Northern Territory blows in a westerly direction, fanning out as it is carried away from the blaze’s point of origin. The fire is located of where the Victoria River empties thick, tan sediments into the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, near the border of Western Australia. Visible across the border in the lower part of the image is Lake Argyle.
