Dust and Smoke Off Coast of Western Africa12.7N 16.3W
On the left side of this image, tan dust blows off the coast of western Africa, by (from top to bottom) Mauritania, Senegal, the Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. The origin of the dust is further inland, in the sands of the Sahara Desert.
On the right side of the image, however, the color in the air is grey, rather than tan, suggesting that it is actually smoke from fires. The dust and smoke appear to mix towards the center of the image.
