County Line Fire in Florida and Other Wildfires in Southern USA – April 10th, 201230.5N 84.4W
Visible in the lower right quadrant of this image is the County Line Fire, a wildfire that began on April 5th in the Pinhook Swamp in Florida, USA. The swamp fire has burned about 7,000 acres, and the area affected runs along the Columbia and Baker County line.
The fire has been generating a lot of smoke; yesterday a Dense Smoke Advisory was issued for Columbia, Baker, Union, Bradford, and Alachua Counties. Over 27,000 acres in Florida have burned from 1,210 wildfires since the beginning of the year. Drought conditions are worst in north and northeast Florida, with severe drought in northern central Florida.
Moving northward and westward, multiple other plumes of smoke can be observed from fires in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Several plumes are clustered near the left edge of the image, by the Mississippi-Alabama border.
