As of 11 p.m. AST September 18 (0300 UTC September 19), Tropical Storm Julia (12L) is located within 20 nautical miles of 32.4°N 51.9°W, about 1455 mi (2340 km) west-southwest of the Azores.

Maximum sustained winds are 45 knots (50 mph, 85 km/h), with stronger gusts. Minimum central pressure is 998 mbar (hPa; 29.47 InHg), and the system is moving north at 12 kt (14 mph, 22 km/h).

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 160 miles (260 km) from the center of Julia. Here, dust blowing off the western coast of Africa can be seen to the east of the storm (click here for previous articles).
