Thin Veil of Dust Still in Air Over Persian Gulf

Dust Over Arabian Peninsula - March 23rd, 2012

Although no thick plumes of dust are visible as the sand storm that has been afflicting the Middle East over the last week (click here for previous images) appears to be losing intensity, a think veil of dust can still be observed over Iran (above), the Persian Gulf (upper left quadrant) and the Arabian Peninsula (below). Dust can be seen spreading over the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman in the upper half of the image, and off the coast of Oman near the border with Yemen in the lower part of the image.
