Sand over the Red Sea

The dust storm that has been affecting the Arabian Peninsula over the last few days continues to blow sand over land and off the coast.

The main images depicts sand blowing off the coast of Oman (left) over the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman, towards Iran (top). The wind has been carrying sand in this direction for the past couple of days.

What is different in these latest images, however, is that some sand is now sweeping over the Red Sea. In the second image, a plume of sand blows offshore just north of the Saudi Arabian cities of Jeddah and Mecca.
