Persian Gulf - May 19th, 2012

Dust blows over the Persian Gulf, between the Arabian Peninsula (below) and Iraq (upper left corner) and Iran (above, right). The dust creates a light veil over the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab, along the Iraqi coast, and over the island of Qeshm, belonging to Iran. A thicker plume of dust can be observed blowing by the country of Qatar, located on the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeasterly coast of the much larger Arabian Peninsula.
