Geba River and Dust Off West Coast of Africa11.5N 15.4W
Dust blows off the coast of Africa from a dust storm that was affecting the continent from its north to west coast at the time the image was taken (click here for previous article). Here, the dust blows over the countries of Senegal, the Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone (following the shoreline from top to bottom).
Below the dust, sediments spill from the mouth of the Geba River into the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Guinea-Bissau. The river rises in Guinea and passes through Senegal before reaching Guinea-Bissau and the coast. It is about 340 miles in total length.
