Red Sea - June 29th, 2010

A thick plume of dust blows off the coasts of Egypt and Sudan and over the Red Sea, towards Saudi Arabia. It appears to not quite reach the coastline of the Arabian Peninsula, possibly due to crosswinds.

Such plumes can be seen frequently in this region, as the arid climate of the Sahara Desert in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula are the main sources of airborne dust.
