Dust Off Coast of Northwestern Australia

Australia - September 5th, 2011

Dust blows off the northwestern coast of Australia, reaching northwestward across the Timor Sea towards the islands of Maritime Southeast Asia (visible at the top).

Although partially veiled by the airborne dust, sediments can be observed along the Australian shoreline. Their concentration is densest in King Sound, a large gulf that expands from the mouth of the Fitzroy River.
