Dust off West Africa - March 14th, 2012

Dust from the Sahara Desert has been blowing off the coast of West Africa over the last few days (click here for previous images). Here, it can be seen reaching across the Atlantic Ocean to South America.

Southwestern Senegal, in West Africa, and northeastern Brazil, in South America, are separated by approximately 1,600 mi (2,575 km) at their closest point.
