Dust Blowing About Between Africa and Arabian Peninsula

11.6N 43.8E

August 8th, 2012 Category: Dust Storms

Red Sea – August 6th, 2012

Dust blows between Africa and the Middle East, over the Red Sea (upper left), Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden (right). It is difficult to ascertain whether the dust originates from the Arabian Peninsula’s Rub al’Khali Desert (above) or the Sahara Desert, or from both. However, several areas of thicker plumes can be seen near the right edge and just south of the strait.
