Persian Gulf - July 30th, 2010

Dust blows in an arched shape over the Middle East and the upper part of the Persian Gulf. The dust veils much of the valley by the convergence of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, although Lake Tharthar can be observed clearly just to the northwest.

Lake Tharthar is a lake in Iraq situated 120 kilometers north of Baghdad, between the Tigris (right) and Euphrates (left) rivers. It is the largest lake in the country, and an important water source for irrigation.
