Dust and Cloud Streets Off Coast of Mauritania17.9N 18.2W
Dust has been blowing off the west coast of Africa over the last few days, seemingly alternating between a northwestward direction (off the coast sof Morocco and Western Sahara and over the Canary Islands) and a southwestward direction (off the shores of Mauritania, Senegal, the Gambia and Guinea Bissau).
Here, however, the winds appear to be quietening down as less dust is present in the skies offshore. Still, some particles can be seen west of Mauritania, intermixed with clouds that having a rippled pattern (known as cloud streets).
Visible in the full image, the Canary Islands and Moroccan and Western Sahara coastlines are dust-free.
