Gravel Plains of Northern Namib Desert in Namibia and Angola16.1S 12.1E
In this image, the gravel plains of the northern Namib Desert can be seen stretching up from Namibia (below) across the Angolan border. Interestingly, the border appears as a faint horizontal line running across the lower part of the image.
The Namib Desert forms part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, the largest game reserve in Africa. Having endured arid or semi-arid conditions for at least 55 million years, it is considered to be the oldest desert in the world.
