Many lakes spot the landscape of southwestern Turkey’s Lakes Region (Göller Bölgesi). One distinguishes itself from the rest by its bright turquoise color: Lake Beyşehir (Turkish: Beyşehir Gölü). It is a large freshwater lake in Isparta and Konya provinces.

The lake has an area of 650.00 km² and is 45 km long and 20 km wide. Its maximum depth is 10 meters, although water level in the lake often fluctuates by year and by season. Lake Beyşehir is used for irrigation, although it is also a national park.

The surrounding landscape is a mixture of dark green mountains and hills and tan lowlands. The highlands include the Taurus Mountains (Turkish: Toros Dağları), a mountain complex in southern Turkey that divides the Mediterranean coastal region of southern Turkey from the central Anatolian Plateau.
